The planting calendar
Four blooms, timed for Texas.
We replant every box and planter on a quarterly calendar built around the weather that matters here: the last freeze in March, the 100° stretch from June to August, and the first hard freeze of winter. Before each refresh, you get a flower menu and pick your favorite.
- IMarch
Spring
Snapdragons, petunias, dianthus, verbena and geraniums, with creeping jenny to trail.
Planted after the last freeze, usually mid-March.
- IIMay
Summer
Lantana, pentas, angelonia, vinca and coleus, with sweet potato vine to trail.
Chosen to survive 100° afternoons.
- IIILate September
Fall
Mums, ornamental kale, peppers and ornamental grasses.
Planted as the heat breaks, so it gets a full October.
- IVMid-November
Winter
Pansies and violas with evergreens, magnolia and red berries for the holidays.
Pansies bloom right through a Dallas winter.
How picking works
You pick, we plant.
About two weeks before each refresh, we email a flower menu with two to four options for your boxes and planters, chosen for your sun and the season. Tap the one you like and we plant it on your scheduled day — you don’t need to be home. If you don’t pick by the deadline in the email, we plant our recommendation, so your refresh is never held up.
Every refresh includes a drip check, timer adjustment and tidy-up. Freeze and hail care is the homeowner’s job; see the Homeowner care guide for exactly what to do and when.
